One World One Love is seeking volunteers for numerous events. View all our openings here.
One World One Love is pleased to announce a new program to assist immigrant families who were separated at the border. These families have recently been reunited but are unable to work while awaiting their asylum trials. 1W1L is seeking anyone interested in making a difference in the lives of these families. Spanish language skills are an excellent bonus!
Coming to a new country is full of so many challenges. New Language, new culture, new everything. Add to that the fear and strain that comes with fleeing war and persecution... arriving in a time when the political environment is not welcoming and the isolation and stress experienced by the families we serve is enormous. Our volunteers conceived of and designed this program as a way to not only help our families learn the language and acclimate to their new environment but to bring some friendship and social enjoyment into their weekly routines. Find out how you can help.
Three new families are arriving in NJ, One from Sri Lanka and 2 from Congo, and we are beginning to collect items for their apartment set ups through an Amazon wish-list. As soon as IRC finds their apartments, we will have a signup sheet for a few more donations and the apartment setups. Please make donations through Amazon whish-list here.
1W1L has exciting opportunities for interns to contribute and gain hands on experience in Non-Profit Management, Event Planning, Project Management, Fundraising and Communications. We are currently seeking candidates interested in Human Rights, Social Work, Community Organizing, Political Science, Communications or those who simply want to make a difference in the lives of recently resettled refugees. Due to privacy concerns and 1W1L’s work directly with families, a background check may be required. Academic credit for this internship is available. We will work with your academic department.
